Description
Learn Arabic calligraphy from the very basics, step by step, and gradually build the confidence to write beautiful Arabic words and Quranic verses. This course teaches Naskh, the clear, readable script used in most printed copies of the Quran.
It is not just about beautiful writing. It is also a way to build a deeper appreciation for the language of the Quran and to make Arabic writing part of your creative and spiritual life.
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Write all 28 Arabic letters in Naskh with the correct shape, proportion and stroke direction.
- Join letters into words, choosing the right initial, medial or final form and keeping spacing even.
- Hold and angle the calligraphy pen correctly and keep a steady baseline and letter height.
- Plan the layout of a short Quranic verse with balanced spacing and margins.
- Complete a finished Quranic verse piece in their own hand, ready to frame or gift.
Who is this course for?
- Complete beginners: no calligraphy experience needed. We start with how to hold the pen.
- Quran learners and Arabic students who want to deepen their connection with the script.
- Creative hobbyists, aged 16 and above, who want a calm, rewarding craft.
Not the best fit if you want to learn several scripts or reach advanced level quickly. This is a foundation course in one script.
Course Features
- Live demonstrations: the tutor writes each stroke and letter while students watch and follow along.
- Guided practice: students work through practice sheets in class with the tutor correcting as they go.
- Individual feedback: after each session, students send a photo of their work and receive written or voice corrections.
- Short practice tasks between classes, about 20–30 minutes each.
- Provided by the tutor: printable practice sheets, letter-form guides and reference notes (PDF).
- Final project: one finished Quranic verse piece, reviewed with the teacher.

Week 1: Pen control, strokes and the first group of letters
Week 2: The remaining letters and their joining forms
Week 3: Words, spacing and line consistency
Week 4: Verse layout and the final piece, with personal feedback
